About DoxSunBlaster
Dox SunBlaster was created by Dr Steve Taylor back in 1998 for Farmers in the Waikato region who were at risk for exposure but hated slapping on sticky creams and lotions when they were already coated with dust and muck during a hard days work.
He formulated a version that could be sprayed on, no need for any rubbing in. The high content of alcohol in the formula allows it to air dry in a minute leaving no sticky residue and has been used on movie sets worldwide including, Lord of the Rings and The Last Samurai, filmed here in New Zealand. Its unique formula means make-up artists can spray it on as a base or alternatively, overtop of makeup.
Dox Sunblaster has been a quiet, if you know, then you know kind of product. Folks have generally found out about it by being introduced to it by referral from friends. It is super popular with golfers, skiiers and snow boarders and boaties as modern-day sunscreens ruin golf grips, boat finishes, car leather, fishing gear, they require you to take gloves off to apply, they turn your collars yellow or discoloured and if you're headed out on the slopes, smothering yourself in a sticky goo or zinc isn't the best for your goggles either.
Dr Steve Taylor was busy with his practise and Dennis took over and ran Dox SunBlaster for the next 15years before he also retired and we stepped in at the beginning of 2024.
Stephen and myself are boat owners and avid fisho's and were introduced to Dox SunBlaster by boating friends several years ago, who swore this was the best thing out for boats... Which we can now confirm is safely the case, as we have no damage to any of our clears, teak, fishing gear or varnished wood surfaces.
Personally, I have struggled over the years to find a sunblock that doesn't react to my skin and cause chemical burn, extra sun burn or some sort of scaley stinging reaction, so when Dennis said he was retiring, we jumped at the chance to make sure Dox SunBlaster stayed available to everyone who loves it, needs it and swears by it!
We went through the process of retesting at a laboratory in Australia, and have rebranded, bringing the old labelling up to current New Zealand Standards and now we are on a mission to make it an everyday brand and available to even more New Zealanders.
